A total of 36,000 vehicles travel through the Reservoir crossing each day and the boom gates are down for 24 minutes during the 2 hour morning peak – as you can imagine, this location was high on the list for the State Government to remove. The level crossing is being removed by building a rail bridge over High Street and constructing a new Reservoir Station. By elevating the rail line over High Street, we will create new direct connections between Edwardes Street and Broadway. As part of the project, a new public plaza will be built and improvements made to shared use paths for pedestrians and cyclists. Major construction has started, with project completion expected in 2020.
