The Matheson and Caulfield library environments have been designed to encourage wonder, thought and creativity. The architects have created libraries that marry modern design with prominent original building features. A substantial amount of artwork from the University’s collection adds depth to the Library user experience. As the curator says, “Art plays many roles in contemporary society. It can educate, challenge, intrigue, entertain and enrich – much like a 21st-century library.” Exhibitions and permanent displays curated by Library staff and Monash researchers celebrate special collections and research excellence.
